Trashtown Thrillers: A Red Rose and a Shotgun Kiss
I distinctly remember the last review I did for this outfit. I was at a loss for anything original to say about them. I find myself in much the same position here. All I can say is they’re straight-down-the-line old fashioned [and I mean that in the nicest possible way, folks] punks. I guess I’m going to have to give you the track-by-track analysis to earn my keep here. ‘Trash’N’Roll’ starts with a typical thriller of an intro – you just know you’re in for a treat when you hear it. And you’re not disappointed. ‘Step on You’ is reminiscent of The Stranglers’ ‘Five Minutes’ – very macho and raunchy rock – brillo!!! ‘Complicated’ – not exactly Avril Lavigne! But a pretty cool groove, nonetheless. You can even dance to it. ‘The World’s Greatest Manipulator’ is a great headbanger. Get your pogostick out. Oldskool Punk in true joey/johnny/dee-dee/tommy style. Nice one chaps! The EP rounds off with an odd untitled little piece of sad country-rock, which indicates the Trashtown Thrillers have even more strings to their bows than previously indicated. I can’t wait to hear more.
