Bom-Bosch, The Musical
Sadly, I didn’t get to see the whole of the Eurovision Song Contest this year because I missed the second semi-final. This was for the very good reason that at the last minute I was offered a ticket to go with old friends to see Bom-Bosch, The Musical at Bom-Banes Café in George Street, Kemp Town, Brighton.
The show told the story of the genesis of this unique venue through the medium of music and song, and was accompanied with a 3-course meal including a main consisting of their famous Bangers and Mash - a.k.a. Sausages and Stoemp, washed down with a few bottles of the Belgian Beers they specialise in.
The whole evening was a delight from beginning to end – the songs were hilarious, the food was marvellous and the service was impeccable. Our hosts Jane BomBane and Nick Pynn, roped in the rest of the staff to serenade us with tales of how they got dragged into the Little but Almost-Perfect World that is BomBanes while we chomped and slurped our way through the night. By way of market research, they even demanded the diners join in by singing the order of their preference of main course ingredients. In my case, "Definitely Stoemp!"
It’s an event one finds quite difficult to accurately describe, so I suggest you get in touch via http://www.bom-banes.co.uk/ and book a seat and experience the delightful evening for yourself.
Alternatively, it is possible to obtain a copy of the limited edition CD of the Musical – but you’ll not get the full flavour as Sausage and Stoemp are not included.
