I thought you'd want to know, so I looked up panegyric in my dictionary. It Said,"a speech or piece of writing in praise of somebody or something." So now we're all a bit wiser! I guess.
As usual, Gulcher has come up with an extraordinary record here. What can I say? It's not really something you'll want to chill out to while sitting with your Grandmother. It's well left of leftfield. A pop equivalent of Stockhausen or Sun Ra. Extremely exciting but not for those prone to heart failure or migraine. Get my drift?
Gulcher cunningly lets bands make their own records and then issues them on their behalf. It's hard to imagine any record company stumping up the dough to finance a record of this ilk. Which shows just how unadventurous most of them are and just how wonderfully insightful Gulcher is!
It's a diamond in the rubbish pile that normally parades under the epithet 'Avant-Garde.' It'd be useless even trying to give you a description of what this record sounds like - all I can suggest is you visit the website to see what's on offer in the form of samplers and downloads. If you're a genuine musical explorer you'll be thrilled with what you find there.
But whether this is a true panegyric or not, I think I'll leave you to decide.
