It's been A Long Time Coming......Ten Years After!
One of my favourite bands, Paradise 9, has at last produced a follow up to their Wonderful 'Showtime' Album of 1999!
It's an EP entitled 'Nothing for Tomorrow'
Here's a track-by-track rundown and review....
Nothing for Tomorrow: Classic Space Rock meets Joe Strummer – Lead Vocalist Gregg McKella tells it like it is to a driving prog backing. Just the sort of thing to get an ageing hippie back in touch with his vital functions Brilliant – would be an instant number one hit if only The Man at the Record Company could get his underage-Adonis-worshipping-obsessed arse in gear, did his job properly and presented it to the World-At-Large. These Old Geezers have really been around the Block and paid all their dues to the Musical Ancestors, suffered all the setbacks and disappointments that Life can throw at them and The System can hand out. They’ve got far more to tell us than Those Virginal Dopes on E in Nappies. Crystalized Moments – Doleful lilting symphonic rock of the first order worthy of Mr Gilmour’s little band of small furry creatures gathering in a cave and grooving with a Pict on One of Those Better Days. Broken Promises: Mystical Magic conjuring trippy-dippy afternoons in the summer sun down at the local festival. Just like we had at Blaker’s Park a few weeks back. Points of View: Eleven minutes of the twenty-first century social commentary P9’s so good at. The extended format allows Greggo to stretch out with his clarinet and us to space out on fresh chilled celestial grooves.
My biggest disappointment is that it isn't an album.
It's up to YOU now..
Buy it. Tell your pals about it. Demand your favourite Radio Station plays it.
Make it a Smash Hit. Put Paradise 9 where they deserve to be...
On the tip of the World's Tongue
